Having said that though I'm not completely insensitive to those who have been adversely affected, people who have had their lives disrupted by being evacuated from their homes, either by earthquake damage or flooding, those who will need to take a little more time to pick up the pieces, fix the damage and carry on. Wondering how best I might be able to help these people, if there is actually anything I CAN do to help and what that help might look like. Maybe a bed for a few days, some clothes I'm not 100% sure how badly everyone has been effected yet but have seen the photos on Facebook...
"Helen you fool, there's less than 8 weeks to go until the ride!!!!"
Sh%#!!!! Where did that time go??? A one week rest from training very quickly turned into 3, my weekends are very quickly diminishing and I've still got a bit to do.
- Auction Fundraiser in less than two weeks - lots to do to prep and confirm.
- Travel insurance to sort and pay for.
- Who the heck am I going to ask to look after the kids while I'm away?? Crap, I better get onto that one quick smart!!!
- Accommodation the first night in Melbourne
- Tickets for Spectacular
- A bike to get fitted and buy new pedals and shoes for, where the heck is that money coming from??? Lights for the 5am starts
I better get that sorted pretty quickly so that I can get used to the new bike before I ride. But where am I going to fit these rides in?? My daughter is a bit anxious with the quakes, they shook her up a little bit and to be honest I'm not sure how comfortable I am heading off, what if something happens while I'm out on a ride and it's not so easy to get back home???
But I have to work these things out otherwise it's going to be a really hard ride and I've come too far to quit now. And lets be honest, those have only been going the last 2 days, the last 3 weeks have been my own excuses. First thing in the morning I'm going to have to work out my plan, I'm going to have to say no to a lot of things and just dedicate myself to the next 8 weeks. To prioritise, get them done and tick them off.
And have my massage of course. I'm so sore from Sunday, 3 weeks of nothing makes a huge impact, it's amazing how much work can be undone but not staying consistent. By having all the little excuses crop up and buy into them as valid reasons to not stay focussed on ones goals. I really paid for it by letting those muscles get out of shape and then trying to ride to the same level as I was before the break.
So first thing in the morning, set my plan and action it. Set my to do list and action it.
And JUST DO IT!!! Goals - Focus - Take Action - Achieve.
Now let's get some sleep so I don't use being tired as an excuse not to do it.
