Water plays many roles and functions in your body.
Do you lack energy? A good place to start is by drinking more water. It makes a huge difference. I had a day where I drank close to 4 litres (I'd had a particularly active day) and felt absolutely fine, the next day I was a bit slack at getting it in and was just about falling asleep on the train home. When your hydration levels are low, this effects your performance and productivity throughout your day. And how often have your moods been affected because you are low in energy?
Do you get constipated? Chances are you need to up your water intake? Water is pulled out of food as it travels though your large intestine so if you're not drinking enough water your poohs is going to be a bit hard...and no one likes to be constipated. Even your children so if they're having a tough time on on the toilet then it's a good idea to monitor how much water they are drinking.
Joint pain? Try drinking more water first before rushing off to the doctor. Water helps to lubricate and cushion your joints so make sure you're drinking enough.
High blood pressure? Again, are you drinking enough water? When you don't have enough water in your body, blood volume goes down and your brain releases a neurotransmitter called vasopressin to constrict blood vessels so that your vascular system has enough strength to pump your blood around you body. Disclaimer: I'm not saying don't consult with your doctor especially in situations like high blood pressure, I'm saying try increasing your water intake to see if that makes a difference for you.
Are you trying to lose weight? Not enough water in your cells, not enough energy for them to make this happen as well as it could.
I often hear people say they don't like the taste of water...???? My PT and I had a discussion about this. His response to someone who said that was "Do you like the taste of oxygen?"
3. Nutritious food
is was what your body needs and that's the order of importance. You're not doing yourself any favours by filling yourself up regularly with on sugary beverages.
