Do you really have to make sacrifices to live a healthy active lifestyle?
You are sacrificing your energy levels. Your day probably consists of getting up, going through the motions then blobbing out in front of the T.V or computer because you wake up tired and you're still tired at the end of the day.
You are sacrificing quality time with your friends and family. You might lack the energy to play, you might be unwell often, worst case scenario, after years of less than quality food choices, lack of exercise and inadequate sleep, you die earlier than you should have missing out on seeing children & grandchildren growing up just as they will while they miss out on you being there.
You are sacrificing your health. Food choices that don't serve you, that is to say food low in nutritional value, just because it's convenient or it's cheap, are linked to health risks such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, stroke and some cancers. A common complaint is "I don't have time to eat healthy". WHAT????. Do you really have time not to? Are you going to wait until you get sick before you make any changes?? That seems like a sacrifice in my opinion.
You are sacrificing the opportunity to feel amazing every day. A colleague said to me that giving up crap food is like giving up smoking. You don't know how good you can feel, and smell, until you stop. The same applies to food. You don't know how good you can feel until you make better choices and reduce the crap foods. I couldn't agree more. For me personally, once I cut out most crap foods & replaced it with good whole food eating (I also choose to supplement) if on occasion I do make the choice to eat something not so great, I really feel it. But you don't know it until you make the changes. You don't realize how much better you could feel until you do it. You have to give it time though and if you're not getting the effects of better nutrition then chances are your villi are energetically impaired and you're not absorbing the nutrition as effectively as you could. But that blog post is for another day.
So what sacrifices are you prepared to make? Do you choose to sacrifice energy, quality and quantity of life, health, the opportunity to feel amazing every day just so you can eat cheap, convenient foods that are low in nutrition? Or do you choose to sacrifice those foods for good quality whole food eating (that doesn't need to break the bank) and then throw in a bit of physical activity for good measure so you can have all these things? I know which sacrifice I choose...
