What kind of thought's dominate your mind? Are you thinking that everything is too hard, filling your mind with doom and gloom, idle gossip, worrying about what others are doing?
Or are you an active participant in your life, filling your mind with information and thoughts that will get you closer to where you want to be?
When you are in a positive frame of mind things are a lot easier. When you are down or grumpy things are a lot harder. Have you ever noticed that? You neglect to do things like eat well, be active, sleep. And when you neglect these things your moods are effected and so the cycle begins. It's important to feed your mind with the right information. And it takes work to be positive. Darren Hardy shared that it's the brain's job to look out for things that might be a danger - it's programmed to look for negatives as it plays a part in your survival. But the good news is that you can train it differently.
Simple things like smiling instead of frowning make a difference. When I'm out biking I've started catching myself when it starts to feel hard. Am I frowning or am I smiling? Maybe I don't quite get to smiling, could you imagine it? I might scare people if I'm riding along by myself with a big cheesy grin on my face. But I definitely soften my face and think a lot more positively.
Recently I was out biking in the rain, no one was around so I was singing at the top of my lungs. Just making up random words about what I was doing and how I was feeling and how I was going to overcome the obstacles. Check out by blog post on that ride here.
Anyway, try noticing your thoughts and feelings, change them and see what difference it makes for you.
If you want to get really serious then start noticing what information you're allowing in. Is it negative or positive? Imagine a brain full of negativity is like a jar full of dirty water... What happens when you take a jug full of clean clear water and keep pouring it into the dirty water? Eventually the dirty water will be replaced by the clean clear water. Your brain is the same, filter out the negative and only allow in the positive and eventually it'll be looking for the positive in situations, open to finding solutions, strong enough to overcome the obstacles that get in your way. Trust me, you will still have challenges in your life but the way you react to and handle them will be different. With everything though, you have to be an active participant in your life and create and do the things that will get you where you want.
