Imagine the cells of your body regenerating (or copying - this is what they do) but they are copying crappy cells because your body hasn’t been getting what it needs in the way of nourishment. These unhealthy cells regenerate unhealthy cells and the less you nourish them with what they need the more unhealthy they are going to get. You feel tired and sick, you’re developing health issues, you’re less productive at work and keep needing sick days, and this impacts on your finances. Or you struggle to keep up with your children because you’re just too tired!! Your relationship suffers because you’re tired and grumpy. You’re mental well being suffers because everything is too stressful and you’re not sleeping well.
Now imagine you are nourishing your body with what it requires: vitamins, minerals, proteins, carbohydrates, fats, water and you’re not overloading it with sugar. Your cells are getting what they need to function properly and produce the energy your body requires. As you continue to nourish your body with all the things it needs, when your cells regenerate they are making copies of healthier cells. Your body then has the energy you need to perform throughout the day, at work, as a parent, as a lover, as a friend…your relationships improve and you have more vitality. You’re sick a lot less, if at all. You start to lose the excess body fat, (or gain if you are unhealthily underweight) until your body is a healthy weight and has the ability to function optimally.
You don’t have to be an elite athlete to look after yourself. You don’t need to be training for an Ironman or a triathlon, or an endurance ride, or an event. You’re life is your event and to get the most out of it you need to be at your best and function optimally. Otherwise it is just that much harder.
You can’t do that by nourishing yourself with crappy foods. End of story. Maybe you are training for these types of events but I am willing to wager you don’t feel as good as you could if your nutrition was on point. But you won’t know that until you try…
